Welcome to my little corner of the interwebs. A little space I like to call Pumpkin Orange. Why Pumpkin Orange? Well why not. As a computer scientist that doesn’t game I found myself lacking in a decent handle that would translate well into the blogosphere. I thought back through my old email address prefixes for inspiration:
- moose_juggles (ages 12 – 16)
- fluffy_red_socks (16 – 23+)
- bar10 (18 – 23+ generously provided to me by the UofWaikato)
- barogers (20-21 from the UofCalgary)
Though these are obscure enough to probably suffice, they feel like remnants of my past. Over the last 3 years, I’ve been somewhat rapidly and scarily becoming a grownup. This transformation coincides with the meeting, courting, buying house with, and marrying of my favourite person in the world, Mr Jed P. Laundry. So what better way to name my blog than to pick an obscure in-joke between my husband and I that came to be at the beginning of that 3 years. Now, if I told you the exact specifics of Pumpkin Orange then it wouldn’t be an in-joke and wouldn’t be nearly as appropriate as a title. Suffice to say, Pumpkin Orange now represents my life as a grownup.
A Little About Me – Beverley A. Laundry
In 2009, I graduated with a Bachelor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences with first class honours in the field of Graphics and Multimedia from the University of Waikato (Hamilton, New Zealand). Yup that’s a mouthful and a half.
Since 2008 I’ve been working as an iPhone application developer for a Hamilton based company. I’m on the verge of going back to uni to attempt a Masters of Science in Computer Science at the good ol’ UofW.
Outside of school and work…
I’m a grade 8 flute player. Am addicted to crochet. Love to cook. Am fascinated by animation in its many forms. Enjoy documenting life through photos. And have terrible trouble getting up in the morning.
